GENERATE is seeking writers, poets, thinkers, artists, bloggers, tricksters, students, educators, musicians, clergy, skeptics, mystics, sinners and saints — plus everyday janes and joes — to submit original, recent works that explore, probe, rethink/reframe, question, hack, contemplate, and offer insight into the growing global conversation about following God in the Way of Jesus—its intersections, its life, its resultant creativity and commmunity practice.

We are currently accepting completed essays, photo and art galleries/portfolios, poetry/verse, long and short fiction, plays, interviews, new liturgy/worship expression and reviews.
Essays and Reviews
GENERATE strives to feature essays and reviews that explore the living of the Way of Jesus in the everyday. We are not a theological journal and do not publish essays that are heady or focused on the academic exploration of theology.Each submission must contain a one paragraph mini-bio on the author, as well as a digital photograph “headshot” (300DPI, RGB JPG is best).

Photo and Art
We encourage submission of visual art of all mediums as well as original photography. Please do not send any original works as we will not return them to you. We prefer that you scan or take a photo of your piece at the highest resolution possible (min. 300dpi)If sending more than 1 file, please include them in a single zip file.
All art must be original and you must have all rights to it. Please include a bio, a high res. head shot of yourself and the title you want included as the description. Back stories are welcome but not necessary and we do not guarantee inclusion of stories with the art.
Poetry/Verse
We welcome submissions of poetry that are thought provoking, prophetic, and introspective. Poetry should not be longer than 40 lines. You may submit up to five poems during per issue.We also welcome verse for online publication. Verse should be sent in a text document along with an accompanying recording of the song or spoken word (in mp3, mp4, or m4a format).

Fiction/Plays
We currently welcome short stories or flash fiction for publication. A short story should not be longer than eight pages in MLA format.For online publication we are also welcoming submissions of an author reading their short stories.
We will consider longer forms of fiction for serialization or multiformat publication (half online/half in print).
We will also consider performance pieces or plays. Only short one-acts will be considered for print publication, longer pieces will be considered for online publication or partial print/online continuation.

We welcome the submission of original artifacts from your local worship expressions, whether prayer, liturgy, responsive readings, or special services.
